Public speaking is a large undertaking. For years it was said that most people feared it more than death. If that is true, I consider myself a daredevil. For me, public speaking is the same as conversations with friends, family or colleagues. Engaging with groups of people (no matter how large) allows me to teach and learn at the same time. I believe that I gain as much from it as the audience.
Host or Master of Ceremonies
Concerts, receptions and other programs often require an individual to keep the order flowing while engaging the audience. This process often entails much more than most people know. The trick is to never let them know! I enjoy the organizational flow, the spontaneous changes, the sometimes necessary stalling and the joy that comes from a successful program. A popular host once told me the key to hosting was realizing the show is not about you. I took his advice and it has served me well. Object lessons and motivational moments are occurring constantly. I believe when we share these experiences we can help people save time, eliminate stress and pain and set them on a course to reach their full potential.

Yes, even the presenter. Knowing the audience and being flexible to address their needs is a crucial part of the process that should never be overlooked.
